Daniel answers five questions posed by UKTN

1. What advice would you give to a first-time founder?

Like a Genie who gives you one wish, you ask for more wishes. My one piece of advice is to get as much expert advice as possible.

2. What’s a common mistake that you see founders make?

Not asking the hard questions upfront about equity allocation, options, backward and forward commitments.

3. Do you have a favourite productivity hack?

Don’t wait around for someone to give you a break. You have to create your own destiny, so just keep incrementally chipping away.

4. What’s the most misunderstood technology?

AI. Many people have rebranded themselves as AI experts. Even if someone has 10 years experience they are still a ‘baby’ in the field. You wouldn’t want a lawyer that just passed the bar exams defining your AI strategy and telling you what technologies to adopt. You want to engage with experts that have decades of applied experience.

5. How do you motivate your team?

Give them an ambitious North Star of purpose, then continuously demonstrate that you will remove blockers, and provide the resources and the freedom to move towards it.
